The restaurant of Hotel-Hostal Sport, in central Falset, is built on traditional Catalan recipes with local, seasonal produce: meatballs, Catalan-style chicken, fried cod with beans, roast kid goat or pork cheeks with figs. It is open 365 days a year and its wine list runs to over 230 references, mostly DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant.
The inn has been open since Christmas Day 1923, when great-grandfather Jaume set up a small bar for the people of Falset; it is now run by the fourth generation of the family. Over the past century it has weathered wars, a fire that forced the rebuilding of much of the building (reopened under manager Marta Domènech), and the pandemic, without losing its old-style 'parada i fonda' (coaching-inn) character.
The menu ranges from simple starters (bread with tomato, mushroom croquettes, cured ham) to mains such as grilled steak (a 500-600g cut) or roast kid goat, with prices running from around €2 to €20, consistent with the venue's mid-to-upper price range.
