Getting to and around the Priorat
You can visit the Priorat by car, but also by public transport: there is a train to near Falset, buses from Barcelona and Reus, local minibuses and taxis in three villages. Timetables are limited, though, and for going from winery to winery a car, or a taxi, is the practical choice.
This page gathers what the official sources say (the Priorat tourist office and the timetables it publishes). Road times are approximate.
By car
From Barcelona, Falset is about 135 km and close to 1 h 50 min away; from Tarragona about 40 km and 40 min; from Reus about 30 km and 30 min; from Lleida about 95 km and close to 1 h 30 min. Siurana is about 40 km from Reus (about 45 min) and about 145 km from Barcelona (about 2 h).
These are estimates from the OSRM routing server using OpenStreetMap data, without traffic; allow some margin because mountain roads are slow.
In Siurana, parking at the village entrance is limited.
By train
The Renfe line Barcelona – Tarragona – Reus – Marçà-Falset – Móra la Nova – Riba-roja d’Ebre (the R15 from Barcelona Estació de França) stops at Marçà-Falset station, about 2 km from Falset, near the village of Marçà. The station is not in Falset itself.
An Autocars Domènech minibus links the station with Marçà and Falset: it runs Monday to Sunday all year (from 9 June 2026), several trips each way every day, with departures timed to meet the trains. If the train is late, the minibus waits up to 30 minutes (except on a few return trips). Information: 977 831 871.
By bus
There are long-distance lines: Plana (Barcelona – Cornudella de Montsant – la Granadella and Barcelona – Poboleda – la Palma d’Ebre, and from Reus to Cornudella, la Morera de Montsant, Poboleda and other villages), HIFE (Barcelona – Alcañiz, Monday to Friday) and La Hispano Igualadina (Tarragona – Falset – Gandesa).
Within the region, Transports Públics del Priorat i Domènech runs local lines, for example Falset – Gratallops – el Lloar – Torroja, Falset – Pradell de la Teixeta – Porrera and Ulldemolins – Cornudella – Porrera – Falset. The timetables are PDFs on the tourist office’s transport page.
Some services are very limited: the Reus – Cornudella – la Morera de Montsant line runs only on request, on working Mondays, and you must phone 977 547 290 by the Friday before.
By taxi
The tourist office lists taxis in Falset (Taxi Priorat, Taxi Domènech and Taxi Javi Mariola), Marçà (Taxi Priorat) and Cornudella de Montsant (Enric Gomis and Montsant Natura Adventures). The other villages have no taxi service, so book ahead.
Airports
Reus airport is the nearest: about 35 km from Falset (about 50 min by car), with flights from Europe. The tourist office says it currently closes in winter. Barcelona – El Prat airport is about 127 km from Falset (close to 1 h 40 min by car).
Without a car: what you can do
You can come without a car: by train to Marçà-Falset and the minibus on to Falset, or on the Plana buses to Cornudella and Poboleda. Falset can be explored on foot (old town and castle). To reach the wineries and the villages higher up, combine a local bus and a taxi. Check each line’s timetable before you plan: not every service runs every day.
ℹ️ Timetables and services can change: check with the operator before you travel.
