El Vi a Punt is a project founded by Oriol Pérez de Tudela, a Valls-born philosophy graduate who turned to winemaking. Based in Vilabella (Alt Camp), the operation works vineyards across three appellations in southern Catalonia — DO Tarragona, DO Montsant and DO Terra Alta — drawing a distinct varietal and territorial expression from each.
In el Masroig, within DO Montsant, the estate farms old, low-yielding vines of Samsó (Carinyena) and Garnatxa Negra on slate-influenced soils. These vines produce Qua, a 100% Samsó red fermented in stainless steel and aged around four months before release in an unusual format for a quality wine: a 3-litre bag-in-box, in keeping with the winery's stated aim of bringing "authentic and honest" wine to everyday tables.
The winery describes its overall style as Mediterranean, fresh and aromatic, drawing inspiration from the wild herbs — thyme, rosemary, lavender — that surround the vineyards in each zone.
