Alfredo Arribas is an architect by training with an international career who made the leap into wine in 2001 by acquiring the Clos del Portal estate in the Vilella Alta area of Priorat, and almost simultaneously began recovering old vineyard plots — known as "trossos" — in neighboring Montsant, around Siurana and Cornudella. This dual foothold, one in each appellation, gave rise to the Vins Nus project.
The winery describes its style as "wines with more absences than additions": practically no oak, no forced extraction, and no alcohol masking, prioritizing above all the transparency of the terroir. Two product lines coexist under this philosophy: SiurAlta, wines made without added sulfites or other additives that aim to capture the freshness of high altitude, with acidity — rather than tannin — as the structural backbone; and InStabiles, numbered bottlings with no intended continuity between vintages, presented as "exercises in the art of assemblage" (recent releases include InStabile Clare, InStabile Granat, and the Tabla Rasa series with PerSe, Néc-Tar and PXX).
The project thus keeps a physical presence in both neighboring appellations: Clos del Portal in Priorat, and a second base in Siurana/Cornudella within DO Montsant.
