Built in 1919 by architect Cèsar Martinell, a disciple of Gaudí, on commission from the Falset agricultural union, it is one of the so-called "wine cathedrals" and was listed as a National Cultural Interest site in 2002 (BCIN code 1943-MH). The design sits between late Modernisme and Noucentisme: a taller central basilica-style nave and two lower side naves separated by parabolic brick arches on pillars, with a neo-medieval façade flanked by two crenellated towers and a granite stone portal. Martinell was advised by engineer Josep Maria Valls and oenologist Erasme M. Imbert; the bottling area was expanded in the 1960s, and the roof, vats and façade were restored in the 1990s.
It remains a working winery, today part of the Cooperativa Falset-Marçà within the DO Montsant and marketed under the Ètim brand (rosé, aged red, white vermouth, sweet wine and ranci). Guided or theatrical tours lasting an hour and a half (€14), premium visits (€22), or vineyard visits (€25) can all be arranged by advance booking. The winery also houses the La Catedral de Falset gastronomic space, open Tuesday to Sunday.
