Vinyes Domènech was founded in 2002 when the Domènech family set out to restore a ten-hectare vineyard in Capçanes, within a protected natural area between the Serra de Llaberia and Montalt, at roughly 450-500 metres altitude and just 10 km from the sea. The project began with little prior winemaking experience but a determination to conserve and improve the estate's natural heritage, and today it farms old vines spread across several sites within DO Montsant (Capçanes, La Figuera, El Masroig).
The winery farms organically (certified since 2007) and biodynamically, growing Grenache (including the rare hairy Grenache/Garnatxa Peluda), Carignan and Merlot for reds, and White Grenache and Macabeo for whites. Its buildings follow bioclimatic, low-impact design principles in harmony with the surrounding biodiversity.
Its flagship wine, Teixar, is made from hairy Grenache and earned the Vi de Finca Qualificada distinction from INCAVI and DO Montsant in 2015; the estate also produces Rita (a White Grenache and Macabeo blend), Furvus, Boig per Tu and Vi d'Àmfora. In 2019 the winery received DO Montsant's Best Vineyard-Viticulturist award.
