Tros del Padrí was set up in 2003 in Porrera as a 50-50 joint venture between the French multinational William Pitters International — based in Bordeaux and in which actor Gérard Depardieu held a stake — and Exclusivas Licoreras y Vinícolas de Vilamalla, aiming to produce high-end wine in the Vila de Porrera, within DOQ Priorat.
Over the years the project has become part of the Domaines Magrez group, owned by businessman Bernard Magrez, based at number 5, Plaça de Catalunya, in Porrera. The winemaker overseeing production is Jean-Philippe Trollet.
The vineyards, on the slopes around Porrera, yield the wine Herència del Padrí — the winery has also marketed the label Sine Nomine — made from grape varieties typical of Priorat such as Cariñena (Samsó) and Garnatxa, blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, in limited production.
