Terrasses del Montsant S.L. is the legal name behind the winery marketed as Heretat Navàs (or Casa Navàs), based in the small village of la Serra d'Almos (Tarragona), in the Priorat comarca and certified under DO Montsant. The Navàs family house has documented history going back to the early 18th century (records from 1724) and, regarding wine specifically, from 1854. Jaume Navàs began the family's involvement with viticulture, continued by his son Josep Navàs from 1896 and later by Teresa Navàs from 1935, making the family one of the pioneers of wine in the area.
The name "Terrasses del Montsant" (Montsant terraces) refers to the region's steep terrain, which forces vineyards to be laid out on terraces over clay, limestone and slate soil. Grapes are hand-harvested, and under winemaker Joan Milà the winery produces an oak-aged red wine — branded Heretat Navàs — blending Syrah, Garnacha (Grenache), Cariñena (Carignan) and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged four months in French oak barrels. It also makes an extra virgin olive oil under the same brand. Around 2009-2011, wine critic Jay Miller (of Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate) and Pancho Campo, Master of Wine, visited the winery and tasted its wines.
