Llicorella Vins is a wine project based in Torroja del Priorat that belongs to the Gil Family group, the wine company originally from Jumilla (Bodegas Juan Gil, in Murcia) that has, over the years, added properties across several Spanish appellations, including Priorat.
The vineyard sits on steep hillsides near the Siurana river, in the area of El Molar, on the soils characteristic of llicorella — the dark slate that gives the winery its name — combined with quartz. The vines, aged between 15 and 25 years, are grown on steeply terraced plots that require manual, selective harvesting.
The main grape varieties are Garnacha and Cariñena, used to produce red wines described as elegant and subtle, aiming for the minerality typical of these soils. Notable labels in the portfolio include Bluegray, Minairó and Clar del bosc. The winery is a member of the International Wineries for Climate Action network, reflecting an environmental commitment.
