Celler Aixalà i Alcait is a small family winery in Torroja del Priorat, founded in 2005 by Jordi Aixalà and Sussi Alcait, who bottled their first wine, Pardelasses, to celebrate their wedding. Their daughter Alzina has since joined the project, and production today totals around 15,000 bottles a year.
The family farms 13.5 hectares of certified organic vineyard planted with traditional Priorat varieties - mainly Carignan, alongside red Grenache, hairy Grenache, white Grenache and Macabeo - rooted in the region’s characteristic llicorella slate soils. Some plots are so steep that a mule is still used to work them, and grapes are harvested by hand.
The winery produces four main wines - Pardelasses, Destrankis, El Coster de l’Alzina and Les Clivelles de Torroja - in a traditional, terroir-focused style. There is no restaurant or accommodation on site, but guided visits can be arranged by calling ahead.
