Mas Igneus traces its origins to Poboleda in 1997, when it began as Priorat's first organic vineyard project. In 2004 the current winery was built in Gratallops, at Costers de l'Ermita, in a building designed by architect Alfons Soldevila i Barbosa. Ownership changed in 2020, when new owners Ornella and Jerôme renamed the project Mas Igneus, with Daniel Cuesta — trained and professionally experienced in France — as winemaker since 2019.
The estate farms roughly 25 hectares across four sites: Costers de l'Ermita (Gratallops), Finca Comellars (Poboleda), El Maset del Boixó (with century-old vines), and Finca la Salanca (Torroja del Priorat), all on the region's characteristic llicorella (black slate) soils, with very low yields. The entire vineyard is certified organic by CCPAE. The main varieties are red grenache (garnacha) and carignan, supplemented by syrah, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc; for whites they grow white grenache, viognier and Pedro Ximénez.
Wines produced include Fusió (a grenache-carignan blend), M de Mas Igneus, La Capelleta (white grenache), and the Costers de l'Ermita and Costers de Pobleda cuvées; the 2018 Fusió and 2019 La Capelleta received 93 and 91 points respectively from Guía Peñín. The winery can be visited for tastings, vineyard walks, sunset tastings, glamping among the vines, and wine-painting workshops.
