Mas de l'Abundància is a winery beside the Siurana River, between the village of les Pinyeres and el Masroig, straddling DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant. The estate's recorded history goes back to 1727, when the Dukes of Cardona and Entenza donated the land to the Prior of Scala Dei; after the 19th-century disentailment it passed into private hands. The present winemaking project was founded by Jesús del Río Mateu in 2002, and in 2024 the property was acquired by Ryan Vanderpol and Nikki Katsutani, with Edouard Chevalier — who has experience in Australia and more than twelve years working in Priorat and Montsant — joining as winemaker.
The estate grows Garnatxa (red and white), Carinyena (Samsó), Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, with winemaking described as totally artisanal and organic certification held since 2019. Ageing takes place in 21 French Bordeaux oak barrels with a combined capacity of about 5,500 litres. Wines produced include Mauka (white), Navili (rosé), Hema, Flvminis, Abundância and Samsó de Philip (reds) and de Calpino (white).
The owners describe themselves as 'gardeners of this land' and say their aim is to honor the history and traditions of the site while combining Old World character with New World energy.
