The Nita winery in Gratallops takes its name from Nita, the grandmother of winemaker Meritxell Pallejà, and her grandfather Lluís, both originally from Falset, who ran a concentrated grape-must and fig-syrup business in Reus. Meritxell studied enology starting in 1997 and, after eighteen years of experience — including alongside Álvaro Palacios, with stints in California's Napa Valley and in Burgundy — bottled her first wine, Nita, in 2004 as a tribute to her grandmother.
The winery works native Priorat varieties: black Grenache (Garnatxa Negra) and Carignan (Carinyena/Samsó) for the reds, and white Grenache (Garnatxa Blanca) and Xenin for the whites. The range includes Nita and Nita Blanc, as well as single-plot wines such as Magran - Partida Les Manyetes, La Costa del Riu, Torrent Vi de Paratge, and Ranci.
Vineyard and cellar work follow a minimal-intervention approach: manual, selective harvesting of ripe, healthy grapes, organic soil management, and tasks guided by the lunar cycle, with treatments limited to sulfur and copper sulfate. Visits are by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00.
