Clos Erasmus — Clos i Terrasses

Clos i Terrasses is the Gratallops winery founded in 1988-1989 by Swiss-born Daphne Glorian, who bought seventeen vineyard terraces there after being encouraged by modern-Priorat pioneers Álvaro Palacios and René Barbier. Together with Josep Lluís Pérez and Carles Pastrana, this group laid the foundations of the region's late-1980s wine revival, which also produced landmark estates such as Clos Mogador, Clos Dofí, Clos Martinet and Clos de l'Obac, alongside Clos Erasmus itself.
The estate has farmed its vineyards under biodynamic principles since 2004 and makes two DOQ Priorat red wines: Clos Erasmus, the flagship, produced in very small quantities (around 3,200 bottles), and Laurel, made in larger volume (about 20,000 bottles) from younger vines. The blend is based on Grenache and Syrah, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged mostly in French oak.
Clos Erasmus has received a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker/Wine Advocate on more than one occasion (including the 2004 and 2013 vintages), making it the first Priorat wine to reach that mark. The winery, located at Carrer de la Font, 1, in Gratallops, sells mainly through direct sales.
