Clos Berenguer is a family winery founded in 1999 in El Molar, in the western part of Priorat, by Francesc Berenguer and Cristina Canalda, with winemaker Gil Núñez leading production. The winery's name pays tribute to the founder's parents, and its philosophy centers on producing wines only from the estate's own old vines, spread across three plots with two different soil types.
The winery is housed in two buildings: one used for winemaking and blending, and another containing the offices, barrel-ageing cellars, and a small tasting room set up in a former manganese mine known as 'la Serrana'. Its vines yield varieties such as garnatxa (grenache), samsó (carignan), syrah and cabernet sauvignon, used to make oak-aged red and white wines, including Clos Berenguer, Clos Berenguer Selecció and Clos de Tafall.
Clos de Tafall, a blend of garnatxa, samsó, syrah and cabernet sauvignon aged twelve months in French oak barrels, gained notable international recognition when the American magazine Wine Spectator included it, in 2023, in its list of the world's top 100 wines, with a score of 92 points, making it the only Catalan winery featured in that year's ranking.
