Celler Alcover i Jofre
📍 la Vilella Alta
Celler Alcover i Jofre is a small family winery in la Vilella Alta, one of the smallest villages in DOQ Priorat, set in the heart of the Siurana river valley. Through the 1990s and until 2001 the winery produced Fra Fulco, a red wine blended from Cariñena (Samsó), Garnacha and Syrah, typical of the region's old terraced vines grown on llicorella slate soils.
Vintages of Fra Fulco tasted and discussed by wine enthusiasts and online forums — including 1997, 2000 and 2001 — are described with notes of very ripe dark fruit, tobacco, coffee, forest floor and chocolate, with very soft tannins and considerable complexity, and received high scores (around 96-97 points) from individual tasters.
According to comments from buyers who tasted the last remaining bottles, the 2001 vintage was reportedly the final one produced by the winery, suggesting production stopped shortly after that year. No official website or more recent information about the winery's current activity could be found.
