Trossos del Priorat, in Gratallops, began in 2003 when Enrique Vives and Juli Mestre bought their first vineyards. The name comes from the 'trossos' (plots) of Priorat farmland.
The guided visit explains the winemaking process —from grape to bottle— and includes a tasting of its organic wines with views over the landscape. The winery also has accommodation.
The estate's 21 hectares of vineyards are certified organic and are overseen by Eva Escudé in the cellar and Rafael Gauchola in the vineyard. The Vives family, which owns Trossos del Priorat, is also behind Terra Dominicata in Escaladei, about ten minutes from Gratallops.
