Refugi de Margalef has operated since 1996 as a base camp for the Serra del Montsant, and its history is closely tied to that of climbing in the village. It offers dormitory-style lodging (rooms for 4, 6 and up to 12 people) as well as a couple of double rooms, plus a bar, dining room and a shared guest kitchen; it serves breakfasts and dinners on request. It is not a public à-la-carte restaurant, but it does provide food service to visitors.
The refuge, at Carretera 7 (43371 Margalef), serves guests in Catalan, Spanish and English, and recommends booking in advance. Lodging (with access to the kitchen and shared bathrooms) starts at around 17 €/night, according to its website.
