The Siurana reservoir was formed by a 63 m-high dam, construction of which began in 1968 and was completed in July 1973; it holds about 12 hm³ and supplies the area with irrigation and drinking water. It sits in a spectacular setting, ringed by the Montsant and Prades massifs, with the Gritella range and the clifftop village of Siurana rising above the water: one of the most photographed panoramas in the Priorat. It is reached from the C-242 just past Cornudella de Montsant.

The Cornudella Nautical Club offers rowing and canoeing, and a local company also runs kayak and canoe outings from the shore. In summer it is common to swim at Toll de la Palla and Toll de la Banyera, two clear-water pools on the stretch of the Siurana river above the reservoir, reached via the track that runs around its perimeter.

The old path climbing from Cornudella up to Siurana, which follows the reservoir's edge for part of its length, is considered one of the most beautiful walks in the area.
