Mas Blanc is the winery that the Pinord group — founded in 1942 by Josep Mª Tetas in the Penedès — established around 1990 between Falset and Bellmunt del Priorat, on previously uncultivated land the family turned into an 18-hectare amphitheater of terraces and dry-stone walls over llicorella (slate) soils. They grow mainly native varieties, Garnacha and Cariñena, and in 2007 produced Clos del Músic, the first Demeter-certified biodynamic wine registered in Spain; the whole estate has since moved to organic and biodynamic farming.
The third generation of the Tetas family — Mireia, Josep and Joan — joined the business in 2012 and drove that estate-wide shift to biodynamics. The winery, whose barrel room (300 oak barrels) sits three metres underground, produces the wines +7, Balcons, Clos del Músic and Clos del Mas, and opens its doors for guided tours and tastings.
