Costers del Siurana, founded in 1987 by Carles Pastrana and Mariona Jarque in Gratallops, was one of the wineries that led the DOQ Priorat's renaissance, restoring the slate hillsides that once belonged to the old Carthusian monastery of Escaladei. Its first wines were released in 1989, followed by Miserere in 1990 and Dolç de l'Obac in 1991.
The winery, best known for its Clos de l'Obac wine — ranked among the world's best — offers private guided visits with a tasting led by a family member or the winemaker, usually including four wines (Clos de l'Obac, Miserere, Kyrie and Dolç de l'Obac). Visits are by appointment only, arranged by email or phone; the winery no longer takes bookings online as it once did.
